=== WORSHIP SHARING SPACE PLAN === As of 1/15/2019 nine Friends House residents volunteered to host W.S. groups and we want to use all of them if possible. Some people will be unable to walk to Friends House, so there will be at least one group at the Church. NOTE: Estimates are in triples: (minimum, likely, maximum) How many adults will attend? (90, 100-115, 130) 2018 and earlier Winter Quarters had 101,129,88,129,132,160,148 adults How many want to participate in Worship Sharing? (70, 90, 120) Hard to estimate becasue of the Women's March happening at the same time! The low estimate (70) assumes 15-20 people go to the march. Worship Sharing Group Sizes: (6,8,10) This is saying that 6 is the bare minimum, 8 is ideal, and more than 10 is probably too large for everyone to have time without rushing. Total time: 75 minutes, some of which will be taken up arriving and settling ⇒ We should probably assume only 60-65 minutes of actual worship, so with 8 people per group, each person gets only 7-8 minutes. (Especially for spaces at Friends House; groups meeting in the Church will get a few more minutes of worship) Number of W.S. Groups: We have 9 FH apartments, 3 other spaces at FH, and 3 spaces at the Church. Apartments have a maximum capacity of 8 participants each. We want to use as many apartments as possible, but want at least one group at the church for people who can't walk over to FH. Rolling everything together, here are some calculations: MINIMUM CASE (70, with up to 10 who want or need a local space): 9 FH apartments x 6 or 7 each = 60 1 space @ church x 10 = 10 TOTAL: 70 (this is good; we can use all FH apartments no matter what) LIKELY CASE (90, including up to 18 in a local space): 9 FH apartments x 8 = 72 2 Church spaces x 9 = 18 MAXIMAL CASE (120) 9 FH apartments x 8 = 72 3 Church spaces x 8 = 24 3 other FH spaces x 8 = 24 -------------------------------------------------------- IDEAS FOR ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURE We want to help Friends go only to their assigned space, particularly people going to FH apartments. Last time some people stopped at the first FH apartement they encountered with people milling about, with the result that there were not enough seats for everyone in that apartment and another apartment had an uncomfortably small group. PLAN: Use "tickets" in a jar with apartment-numbers written on them. Instead of verbally telling people which apartment to go to, ask Friends who are going to a FH apartment to come up and take a ticket from the jar. That way they will have a way to remember which apartment number, and the slots will be randomly assigned.
