Santa Rosa curb-side RECYCLING (blue bin) rules*: ACCEPTED: * Paper items - only if clean, dry, and unsoiled * Aluminum foil and serving trays, if washed (only slighly greasy) (balled up to softball size) * Glass bottles & jars, with metal lids attached * Juice & soymilk type boxes with foil liner ok * Aluminum and Steel ("tin") cans NOT ACCEPTED: x So-called "compostable" plastics (these must go to the landfill!) x Items coded with symbol 3,6, or 7 (PVC, Polystyrene, "Miscellaneous" resp.) Note: The representative on the phone told me that hard styrene plastic plates *were* recyclable, but also said code 6 plastics were not allowed (code 6 is for polystyrene). This is contradictory. News reports say they were exporting a lot of recyclables to China but China stopped accepting them so they are being stockpiled. Probably best to avoid styrene plates! x Foil- or Plastic- or Wax-coated paper, cardboard or containers x Plastic bags or film x Ceramic dishes or cups x Plastic items incorporating metal --------------------------------- *As of November 2018, from https://www.recology.com/recology-sonoma-marin/santa-rosa/what-goes-where/ (with questions answered by a rep on the phone)
